In 1980 I was sent by Mark to sell our small flat in Israel and open a jewelry shop in Vanderbijlpark, South Africa. Which I did successfully, with God’s help.
While planning to open a shop, I became pregnant. Mark did not want this ’stumbling block’ in the way, right in the middle of our plans. He asked me to do a curettage, which I was not willing to do. I waited with this, until God’s interference. I started bleeding.
I went to see a doctor, and he said; “After a week, if the bleeding does not stop, come back and we will do a curettage.” After a week the bleeding did not stop. Two days later a dilatation and the curettage were made.
I was like a floppy piece of material. I had lost a lot of blood! I did not have any strength to even stand. The nurse could not believe me. She said, “Enough Mrs. Cohen, get up, don’t be spoiled.” She could not see my real state. The doctor said, “Mrs. Cohen, the infant was not there, you might have lost it while bleeding, before the curettage.” So I thought, “Okay, but why am I so weak”
He gave me some medicines to take, but thank God, I am not pro-medicine, so I did not take them.
Mark lifted me up into the car and later, while laying down at home, I decided to call a Christian friend to pray for me, for at that time I knew believers in Yeshua had power in prayer. and I believed in the power of God. So I called my friend Silvia Cox from Sasolburg.
Before she prayed for me, she said, “Do you believe Yeshua is Messiah?” I said, “Yes, I do!” For the first time, I confessed Yeshua as my Messiah, The Holy One of Israel!
“If you confess with your mouth Yeshua is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” Romans 10:10
The next day I was on my feet. Although, I was far from being myself. For instance, I could still smell the watermelon, as in the time of pregnancy. This was something that I could not bear. Neither could I bear the smell of steak, nor that of Palmolive soap. Crazy, but true!
The day after that recovery we went for two weeks to a caravan park in East London to join Gail and her family. I remember seeing a mother with her baby in her arms and my thoughts were, “I am so glad that I am out of that kind of problem!” Little did I know what God had prepared for us!
When we returned Mark suggested that I go to a specialist in Johannesburg for a check-up and I did. A MONTH AND A HALF after the curettage I went for the check-up to Dr. Israelstam. He said, “Mrs. Cohen, nothing is wrong with you. You are just three months pregnant.” I cried and screamed, “No, I cannot have this child after a curettage!”
He could not believe his ears. In fact, he did not believe me until he phoned my family doctor in Vanderbijlpark and made sure it really happened. Then he tried to calm me down and said, “Each month we will make a scan to see how the infant is doing.” And so it was.
Then, on the 14th of July, 1981 I gave birth to a boy, and Dr. Israelstam took the baby and showed him to me, and said, “You see, Mrs. Cohen, it is a perfect baby.”
I gave him the name Roy Emmanuel, (ROY for “King” and EMMANUEL for “God is with us”), to the glory of Yeshua Messiah!
Only those who believe in God and in His power would understand that there is nothing impossible with Him! The curettage did not remove the infant, the child remained in his place! Hallelu Yah!
Praise God for our sister Silvia Cox, who was an evangelist at heart! To our sorrow, after the fall of Apartheid, our sister Silvia was murdered by an African men who entered to steal her house.
The Good News is. . . She is ALIVE!
“EVEN THOUGH ONE DIES IN MESSIAH HE SHALL LIVE AND NEVER DIE!”
“He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to Him all are alive.” Luke 20:38
“Yeshua said unto her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26
