FROM FREEMASONRY TO CHRIST
Graham found out (as we all do) that things start to happen when we pray! God sent a person to him who was willing to share their life and help him. In the process, Jesus Christ healed Graham's back, heart and mind and set him free from nicotine and the bondage and deception of Freemasonry. Jesus can heal us regardless of our problem. No one can set us free like Jesus! Jesus is the same "yesterday, today and tomorrow".
Where did we come from?
Have you ever wondered what the true meaning of 'life' was really all about? No doubt most people have at one time or another. Many people look at the clouds and skies, mountains and trees, animals and birds, and the human body and wonder; "How did all this get here?" Doctors today still say every child that's born is a miracle.
Believing but not pressing on
In 1956, as a teenager, I became a believer in Jesus but did not continue with Christianity. Over the next 35 years I had almost completely stopped praying however I did not stop believing in Christ and God.
Telling God 'what I thought of Him'
A miracle happened early in 1991 when I decided to earnestly pray again. However this was not a normal prayer, because I blamed God for everything that had gone wrong in my life. This included blaming Him for taking my father away from me when I was two years old. I also blamed God for my mother being killed by a train accident in 1986. This was just the start of telling God what I thought of Him.
God heard my prayer
God heard this prayer and in His mercy sent to me a Christian whose name was Barry. We spent three months together sharing our lives, and getting to know one another.
Setting me free from bondage and deception
Barry was a reformed alcoholic as was a friend of his. Both of them drank methylated spirits, but God healed them both of this lifestyle. Jesus Christ healed my heart and mind and a problem I had with my back. Jesus surrounded me with His complete presence. This occurred while I was lying in bed at night and I felt God's presence moving from my feet to my head. This miracle happened many times over a period of weeks. God also delivered me from nicotine and the bondage that came about from my involvement with Freemasonry. I had been involved in Freemasonry for many years but in 1988 God started to stop me going to Masonic meetings.
Attracted to the Masonic Lodge
I had been invited to join a Freemason Lodge and I was inquisitive to find about it, as there was much mystery surrounding it. Some are attracted to Freemasonry because Freemasonry is committed to doing 'good works' and the organization has a measure of respect in the society. Some are drawn to it because of the social fellowship it provides, the respect you draw from a 'fellow Mason' or the power it can bring. In the Lodge, the Worshipful Master exercises much power within the Lodge. Some people are fascinated by the symbolism of Freemasonry. Many think it is a Christian organization as Freemasonry mentions some ancient Biblical names like Solomon's Temple and mentions 'god' in its oaths. I became a 'Master of the Lodge'
I became heavily involved in Freemasonry and I had completed many of the rituals and oaths. I had become a "Master of the Lodge" and had completed 18 degrees. For a Mason to become a "Master of the Lodge" they need to complete the first three degrees and to progress to become a "Master of the Lodge" it normally takes about 7 years although sometimes it can take less.
What is Freemasonry?
Freemasonry is also referred to as "Masonry" or "The Masonic Lodge" in which members or 'Masons' meet together in a Lodge. Freemasonry is known as the 'Ancient Order of Free and Accepted Masons'. "According to most Masonic authorities, modern Masonry (also called 'speculative' Masonry) can be traced to the founding of the first Grand Lodge in London in 1717."6 Much of modern Freemasonry started from itinerant Middle Age (1200-1700) craftsmen known as stonemasons and at that time you had to be a stonemason to join. The word 'Craft' is also used to identify Freemasonry referring back to the ancient work or 'craft' of the original stonemasons. However due to stonemasonry becoming less and less, the rules were changed to allow other non-stonemasons to join. It is a very large worldwide secret society where Lodge members swear secret oaths and perform secret rituals swearing allegiance to the Lodge and its teachings. Members achieve a numbers of 'degrees'. The main degrees of Freemasonry are the first or Apprentice degree, the second degree and third degree or Master degree. In Australia, a Mason can go from the 4th to the 18th degree and onto the 30th, 31st, 32nd and 33rd degrees.
What is said in Freemasonry rituals and ceremonies?
In these degrees, a person is required to recite an oath; solemnly binding themselves to this oath by reciting the penalties for breaking their oath. Parts of the first or Apprentice degree and third or Master degree in which the Mason swears to 'god' are shown below. As you will see later the true living God, who is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ would never want anyone to solemnly enter into any such oaths.
First or Apprentice Degree
"I (name included here), of my own free will and accord, in the presence of almighty God, and this worshipful Lodge, erected to him, ... most solemnly and sincerely promise and swear, that I will always hail, very conceal, and never reveal, any of the arts, parts or points of the hidden mysteries of ancient Freemasonry …. All this I most solemnly, sincerely promise and swear, … binding myself under no less penalty than that of having my throat cut across, my tongue torn out from its roots, and my body buried in the rough sands of the sea … should I ever knowingly violate this my Entered Apprentice obligation. So help me God …."1
Third of Master Degree
"(I am) binding myself, under no less penalty that that of having my body severed in two, my bowls taken from thence and burned to ashes scattered before the four winds of heaven, that no more remembrance might be had of so vile and wicked a wretch as I would be, should I ever knowing, violate this my Master Mason's obligation. So help me God"1
The Bible tells us the truth
Christians are to judge everything against what the Bible says.
"The word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and marrow; it judges thoughts and attitudes of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12).
We are to examine the Scriptures to see if what is said is true. So a Christian must see what Freemasonry says and compare it with what the Bible has to say.
Freemasonry blocks the path to Jesus and eternal life
Freemasonry lie and deception: There are many ways to God
"Then Christian, the Hebrew, the Moslem, the Brahmin, the followers of Confucius and Zoroaster, can assemble as brethren and unite in prayer of the one God who is above all the Baalim"2 "The true Mason is not creed-bound. He realises with the divine illumination of his Lodge that as a Mason his religion must be universal: Christ, Buddha or Mohammed, the name means little, for he recognizes only the light and not the bearer."3
Truth: Jesus is the only way to the one true God
"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).
"For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus…" (1 Timothy 2:5).
"Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me'" (John 14:6).
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).
Freemasonry lie and deception: Man can obtain salvation by his own efforts and good deeds
"He (the Freemason) can, though his own efforts …. inscribe his name in the 'Book of Life'"4
Truth: Man can never earn salvation - it is a free gift from God
"For it is by grace I have been saved, through faith - and this not from myself, it is a gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast" (Ephesians 2:8,9).
Freemasonry brings a curse and bondage
How to obtain true salvation through believing in Jesus who died and rose from the dead is not mentioned in Freemasonry. The precious name of Jesus is avoided in Masonic prayers lest it cause offence. Masons refer to their idea of 'god' as the 'The Great Architect of the Universe' and the accepted abbreviation for this is G.A.O.T.U. Freemasonry with its oaths, binding punishments for breaking these oaths and its lies and deception leads a person in bondage and this was my experience. The Bible is clear when it says many blessings will come when we know and follow the true and living God. But it is also very clear that people, who practise and carry out rituals that mock God and His Word, bring a curse on themselves and their families. (See Deuteronomy 18:10-14 and well as Deuteronomy chapters 27 and 28.) Freemasons bring on themselves a curse from the very first oath becoming blind to the truth that Jesus is the only way to God and salvation.
Our souls thirst for an approachable God
Jesus describes the devil as "a liar and the father of lies" (John 8:44). The devil wants us to believe that we can never really get to know God.
Freemasonry lie and deception: The Mason 'god' is unapproachable
Albert Pike (a very important Mason author) says; "God is … unapproachable …"5
The truth: The true living God is approachable through Jesus Christ
"As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, of the living God. Where can I go and meet with God? My tears have been my food day and night" (Psalm 42:1-3).
"Put your hope in God, for I will praise him, my Saviour and God" (Psalm 42:11).
In the end, the human spirit is totally unsatisfied with a 'god' that is unapproachable. This is the way God has made us! Our soul thirsts for a close personal relationship with our Creator and Saviour who loves us and is full of grace but who also rightly will and can condemn us to hell for our sins of unbelief, rebellion, pride etc. You will never find eternal life in the Lodge but only through Jesus and His blood will you find the living God that we all so desperately need and desire.
"Do not be deceived: God can not be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please the sinful nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit from the Spirit will reap eternal life" (Galatians 6:7,8).
"It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God" (Hebrews 10:31).
"We have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way"
(Hebrews 10:19,20).
"Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience"
(Hebrews 10:22).
What then are those who have taken Masonic oaths to do?
• Repent and believe in Jesus
If you don't know God, you must come to know Him. You must repent of your sins, believe Jesus rose from the dead and receive the free gift of eternal life.
"Peter replied, 'Repent and be baptized, very one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and all who are far off'" (Acts 2:38).
• Separate yourself from Freemasonry
The Bible describes an incident where particular people who had been involved in evil practices (in this case sorcery) repented and burnt the items associated with that evil.
"Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed their evil deeds. A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls and burned them" (Acts 19:18). I strongly advise that you burn all Masonic books, aprons etc. If you are a Freemason you must repent of being involved with this deception. Pray that any curses you have bought on yourself and your family by being taking the Freemasonry oaths etc will be broken in Jesus' name. Jesus wants to set you free and shower you will abundant life now and for eternity.
• Be spiritual reborn
If we repent and believe, God promises us a spiritual birth. Jesus said a person must have a spiritual new birth by being 'born again' of God's spirit.
"In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again" (John 3:3).
• Meet with other Christians
The Freemason's doors are closed with their secrets and their supposed truths are clouded in mystery. Church doors are open with no secrets. Pick up a Bible and read it. Seek out Christians who will pray with you and for you.
The good news of believing in Jesus
Jesus Christ took the curse that is rightly on us because of our sins when He was put to death by the unbelievably brutal and painful method of crucifixion. Jesus could take our place because He was without sin. The chains of death could not hold Jesus Christ as He rose from the dead and is the living Lord of all. Jesus is the only way to salvation and eternal life and as we keep this truth, He will give us abundant as we live here on earth.
"For the wages of sins is death" (Romans 6:23).
"Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree" (Galatians 3:13).
"By his wounds we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5).
"But God raised Jesus from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him" (Acts 2:24).
"God made Jesus who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Corinthians 2:21).
Jesus too shared in our humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death - that is, the devil --- and free us who all our lives were held in slavery by our fear of death" (Hebrews 2:14,15). Jesus says; "I have come that you may have life and have it to the full' (John 10:10).
Where did we come from? Where are we going?
We can see God's creation everywhere. The Bible tells us; "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1) and that "God created man (male and female) in his own image" (Genesis 1:27). God, the Father, sent Jesus, His Son, to die for our sins and He was raised to life on the third day so those who believe in Him may have eternal life. Nothing has changed in the world today. Only Jesus Christ can give us eternal life and He is reliable and trustworthy because "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever" (Hebrews 13:8). God created us. God wants us to have a relationship with Him while we are there on earth and to live in eternity with Him.
Enter through the narrow gate
Most people rightly conclude that a Creator (God) must exist because this is the only way that the created world could have come into being. But for many people, this God is far off, silent and impossible or almost impossible to reach. They believe that they will go to Heaven because they have tried to live a good live. But a sense that 'there must be a God out there somewhere' along with good deeds will NEVER get you to Heaven. Only have faith in historical Jesus of Nazareth who came to earth, died and rose again, can wash your sins away. To be accepted by God we must have our sins forgiven. Because Jesus was without sin, He is the only one who can take our place and be punished for our sins. We must be spiritually reborn or 'born again' as the Bible puts it. Jesus tells us plainly that it is a narrow path that leads to life.
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it' (Matthew 7:13,14).
The Bible is the book of answers
The Bible says we only get one chance here on earth to repent and believe this good news. "And it is appointed for mankind to die once, but after this the judgment" (Hebrews 9:27). The Bible is the book for today with all the answers to life. The Bible says that in the last times knowledge would increase, and so it has. (Daniel 12:4). The Bible also tells us that Jesus will again return to this world (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18).
What do you chose?
Jesus can heal you from any problem. He can set you free regardless of whether this problem is bondage to Freemasonry, the new age worshipping nature or idols, drugs, alcohol, guilt, pride, anger, bitterness, oppression, depression, materialism, fear, sexual immorality, occult or other lies and addictions. If you cry out to God and mean it, He will answer you. Even though I was angry with God when I cried out to Him He answered.
"Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you; and you will honor me" (Psalm 50.15). You may feel powerless but the Bible tells us; "Nothing is impossible with God" (Luke 1:37).
Jesus said; "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" (John 8:12).
We all need Jesus and the peace of God to enter our hearts. God's love in us creates a better lifestyle by His Holy Spirit. I urge you to walk in the light only Lord Jesus can give us and reject the darkness, lies deception and bondage that devil brings through Freemasonry.
Will you confess Jesus as Lord and ask Him to enter into your heart and follow the truth?
I DARE YOU TO BELIEVE!

Prayer for a Mason
Lord, I long to know you in a real and living way. I admit I have rebelled and I want to let Jesus be my Lord and Savior. I pray that you break the chains that I have bought on myself by taking the oaths of Freemasonry. Set me free! I know Jesus shed His blood for me when He died on the cross. Give me the power to live, as I should.
In the precious name of Jesus, Amen!
